Oral B Pro 7000 Review

It really does take oral hygiene to the next level.

A lot of people are happy using a regular toothbrush with a little bit of up and down brushing in the hope that it’s enough to look after their teeth. Well it can be, but it won’t do the job anywhere near as good as an electric toothbrush and remember, you know how important your teeth are to you.Oral B Pro 7000 Review 1

Cleaning Modes

Although you may not like going to the dentist, using this toothbrush is a little bit like going to see one for a clean, but in a nice way. How many ways do you need to brush? You might think one is enough, but oh no, this little beauty has 6 different modes to clean.

Firstly, there’s the daily cleaning mode, which is a regular 3D all-round brushing mode. This makes sure the teeth get a good clean by using Braun’s oscillating, rotating and pulsating technology. This is known as the 3D cleaning action and it’s able to remove twice as much plaque as any manual toothbrush.

The deep cleaning mode on the Oral B Pro 7000 is designed to remove stains, this is followed by the whitening mode which continues to work on the stains, then helps to whiten the teeth. The massage mode gives a gentle 3 minute brushing which is said to massage the gums and improve their health.

For those with sensitive teeth, the sensitive mode, which is the most-gentle one, vibrates at a much lower speed so as not to irritate or cause any pain. Finally, the tongue cleaning mode helps to get rid of bacteria from the tongue which is a common cause of bad breath.

Pressure Sensor and Timer

Most of the best rated electric toothbrushes have a pressure sensor and as you’d expect, the Oral B Pro 7000 has one too, but it also includes a timer. The sensor will let you know if you’re beginning to press too hard or become a bit aggressive.

Brushing too hard is a common bad habit that can be harmful. Dentists say that around 80% of us are guilty of this and it can cause tooth sensitivity, cavities or gum recession. It’s easier to overbrush with this type of brush rather than a manual one. If you do go at it too hard the toothbrush will emit a red flash and the motor will slow down. This is a great feature!

The timer is also very useful, it’s a Quadtimer and lets you know when to move on to the next part of your teeth. If you think as your teeth divided into four parts – top left and right and bottom left and right, the timer tells you when to move onto the next quadrant.

Bluetooth

The most interesting feature we have to include in this Oral B Pro 7000 review has to be the Bluetooth connectivity. You may ask, why on earth would you want your toothbrush that connects to your smartphone? Well there’s a very good answer to that and it may surprise you.

Experts say that we should brush our teeth for at least two minutes each time. Sadly, most of us don’t for one reason or another. Two minutes can seem like a long time, so the handy app on your phone can come to the rescue!

It shows a countdown timer as you brush and it links the toothbrush which, as we mentioned, vibrates when it’s time to move to the next section. If you don’t want it to show the timer, you can select for it to show a picture of a mouth which displays the part you need to be brushing. You can also change the duration of the timer if you want to.

The brush can be controlled from your phone so it can change the brushing mode for you, but why you wouldn’t do this from the toothbrush itself, heaven only knows! Be careful of not brushing for the full two minutes or the app will display a frowning face to let you know how naughty you are!

When you are done, it’ll ask you if you’ve cleaned your tongue and flossed – so don’t forget! It’ll also ask if you’ve rinsed, but many dentists advise to not rinse so you don’t wash the toothpaste away, especially if it’s for sensitive teeth or it contains fluoride. If you’re unsure about this, ask your dentist.

There are some very useful things the app can do though.  It records the details of all your cleaning, including how many times you pressed too hard. This can help you to improve your brushing and you can show the data to your dentist.

It will also keep a record of your dentist appointments and even give suggestions of dentists who are near to where you live. When the brush head needs replacing after the suggested 90 days, it’ll tell you, but not only that, it’ll give you a link to where you can buy them!

Perhaps a bit more gimmicky but fun, the app for the Oral B Pro 7000 will help to make your two minute brushing a bit more pleasurable. It can show you news or dental tips, it can even let you know how your local weather is looking.

Whilst some of the functions of the app may seem a little over the top or even unnecessary, you can probably see there is a reason behind it. We hope that’s coming across in this Oral B Pro 7000 Review. It’s all to do with educating you to look after your teeth better, to get you into better habits and to make it a more enjoyable experience.

It does have the effect of motivating you, especially if you’re a competitive sort of person. You’ll find you’re competing with yourself to get better results. The app will congratulate you as you achieve and will award you with trophies! Oh, and by the way, if you do forget to take your phone into the bathroom, you can always sync the data later.

Oral B Pro 7000 Review Conclusion

Of course, you don’t need all the “bells and whistles” you get with the Oral B Pro 7000, but it can make a real difference to the way you brush your teeth. It’s so easy to get into bad habits, but you’ll find that difficult with this toothbrush.

Many people believe a cheap manual toothbrush is all you need and while that may be true, there’s no doubt you’ll get better, healthier cleaning with an electronic one. This particular model isn’t cheap, but it does compare well to other similar models.Oral B Pro 7000 Review 2

Having six different brushing modes is useful, but again perhaps not necessary. You can always disable any of the modes you don’t want to use. It has to be said the 3D cleaning, where it pulsates and oscillates around the teeth, makes a big difference to how clean they can be.

Engineers at Braun have designed the Pro 7000 with precision to make sure it does a great job. On the Oral B website it says that this toothbrush removes 300% more plaque along the gum line than a regular manual toothbrush.

One other thing to consider regarding the price is that you can use it for the whole family. It comes with different colored bands which snap onto the toothbrush heads. Each member of the family can have a different brush head, although some people might not like the idea.

Although the charge lasts for around 10 days when using it twice a day, it does seem to take a long time to reach full-charge. There’s a very nice travel bag included which is made from various materials such as silicon. It’s very good quality, but it probably does add quite a lot to the overall cost so perhaps it could have been an optional extra.

If you’re serious about your dental care and want to take it to a different level, the Pro 7000 is certainly worth considering. It will bring a whole new way of thinking when it comes to that bit of two minute action that you do twice a day! We hope you’ve found this Oral B Pro 7000 review useful.
